Commvault Ransomware

Ransomware Protection

Ransomware attacks can be devastating. It is crucial to protect your data. Commvault monitors client computers for unusual activity and alerts users with details.

You can also protect the mount path from external processes, thus protecting your backed-up data. Commvault offers several methods to protect your data.

Storing data in offline storage

It is recommended that data be kept in secondary storage such as tape, Hyperscale appliance or cloud storage. These media are useful for storing ransomware protection mode data, which is difficult to access by Ransomware attacks.

Support

  • The Command Center cannot be used to configure Ransomware protection. However, you can view the File Activity Anomaly Report using the Command Center or you can also use the Enable Ransomware Protection app to monitor and turn on ransomware protection features in the CommCell Console. To download the app on the Commvault Store, see Enable Ransomware Protection.
  • To use this feature, you must have the File System Core Package installed to your client’s computer.
  • Ransomware protection can be configured in your CommCell environment to protect restore-only clients. If you only want to restore backup data from the client, a restore-only client can be installed on a computer.
