1. State Bank of India

SSL Type: – OV Wildcard SSL Certificate

Brand: – Symantec

SBI uses SSL certificate approved by wildcard organization Symantec. The certification of this form of SSL certificate is only completed if the organization is licensed.

As in the case of SBI if you display the name of the company in the SSL certificate it will show “O= State Bank of India”

And they have subdomains they want to secure; thus they use a wildcard SSL. An SSL with a wildcard secures infinite subdomains. They are using the Symantec brand SSL, it was the best CA that Digicert took over later

2. Bank of Baroda (BOB)

SSL Brand: – Digicert

Digicert has recently taken over Symantec’s SSL and PKI portfolio and has a market share of 17.60%. Bank of Baroda uses DigiCert OV SSL Certificate, as we saw in the case of SBI they also used an OV Wildcard SSL because they have subdomains protected with the same SSL and they use only one single domain OV SSL cert in the case of BOB.

3. IDBI Bank

Much like the certificate certified by the association, even Extended certified certificate needs a process of validation at high level. They use Entrust mark SSL which is also one of the world’s leading certification authorities. They often use SSL certificates from a single domain.

4. Punjab National Bank

SSL Brand:- Symantec

As mentioned above Symantec has already been taken over by Digicert, their certificate with Digicert origins has yet to be reissued. They already use the highest certified certificate which is an EV SSL generating more customer trust.

Central bank of India is once more one of India ‘s famous PSU banks. They use SSL certificate for Symantec EV. Much like PNB, the Digicert roots have yet to reissue their certificate.

SSL Brand:- GlobalSign

Canara Bank uses one of the worlds leading SSL provider i.e GlobalSign. The search engine giant itself uses GlobalSign roots, please refer the below image for your reference.

Bank of India uses Entrust Organization validated certificate for making their website secured. Entrust is a growing brand and has a market share of 0.29%, as per datanyze currently 12907 websites are using Entrust brand SSL Certificates.

8. Indian Bank

As discussed earlier, Digicert is the new giant after Taking over Symantec in SSL certificate business. If you surf to the main domain of Indian Bank i.e. http://www.indianbank.in/

You will see that there is no SSL installed here, instead, they have installed SSL on the page where they are offering Internet Banking.

9. Union Bank of India

Union Bank of India uses Extended Validated Certificate from GlobalSign. As discussed earlier GlobalSign is one of the leading CA’s. Google and Youtube are some of the big internet giants who are using GlobalSign SSL Certificates.

10. Vijaya Bank

Vijaya Bank is on our list of Top 10 PSU banks SSL Survey in India. As seen in the below image they are using GlobalSign Organization Validated Certificate.

Vijaya Bank secures the same SSL Certificate for its subdomains, so it uses a Wildcard SSL.

Bottom line

According to our survey, either Extended Validated SSL or Company Validated SSL are used by all banks to secure online transactions. Any online transaction process should be protected with an extended validated SSL, as also stated in the RBI guidelines. We fully agree on it, as both OV and EV enable us to achieve the highest level of protection.
